Without the right support, it can be a challenge to identify, understand, and locate every single licence you own. By gaining a better understanding of your software estate, identifying compliance risks and areas for cost optimisation, you will capitalise on existing resources, find opportunities for cost savings, and optimise unused software entitlements.
The first step in getting to grips with your IT estate and exploring the benefits of software asset management (SAM), is a software baseline assessment.
Clarity Software Baseline Assessment
Our Clarity Software Baseline Assessment builds the platform for your entire SAM programme by highlighting compliance risks and areas for cost optimisation. The assessment provides you with a greater knowledge of your software compliance status and streamlines the SAM processes you already have in place.
Our Clarity Software Baseline Assessment is achieved through three key phases:
- Collection of volume licence entitlement
- Collection of inventory data and understanding of the use of software
- Reconciliation and analysis to provide you with existing risks across the estate
What to expect from the assessment
We start with a kick off call, reinforcing the key deliverables and confirming the timeline of the service, including the forward booking of the deployment and usage call and the presentation of the risk log. It’s also an opportunity to clarify any of the information required and advise on any potential issues that may arise, allowing them to be built into the project plan.
The entitlement will be gathered and agreed. This will then be used to identify entitlement aligned to the product deployment strategy to optimise future procurement, as part of the modelling phase.
Once the inventory data has been provided, our SAM consultants will clarify further information about how software is used within your organisation to establish how it should be licensced.
Following the receipt of inventory and completion of usage and deployment call, our SAM Consultants will analyse the data and produce a compliance risk log.
As a deliverable of the compliance review, our SAM Consultants will discuss the findings with you to ensure understanding of the risks identified. Following this, you will gain access to the compliance review workbook.
