Check it out, we’re back again with Phoenix Out Loud season two! This time we’ve got two of our own to join our host, Craig, in discussions about the six generation workplace.
Having a wide variety of generations in the workplace brings different perspectives, less autonomy, and a more interesting approach to business objectives.
However, the differing values of each generation can cause clashes. With baby boomers valuing loyalty and hard work and gen Z valuing flexibility and personal gains, the generations feel differently about larger workplace topics. Many find it challenging to work with people with widely different views, so we’re wanting to explore the challenges and positives of workplace generations.
In the first episode of our second season, we’re joined by some of our own. Vicki Sammons is our Solutions Manager, and someone who is very passionate about generations in the workplace. Abbey Simpson is Service Desk Manager, someone who works with and manages people from a range of generations. Leading the six-generation workplace is something many businesses are looking at, but what does it actually mean and what do you need to consider?
According to a study by The Adaptavist Group…
- Half of employers over the age of 50 said they were annoyed by younger colleagues’ use of technology for work, while just under half of Gen Z employees felt like older workers slowed things down by not using technology to the fullest
- 22% of Gen Z workers say there has been a rise in workplace inequities between generations
- 90% of teams reported conflicts over digital tools
This episode will explore the differing habits of each generation and how these effect workplaces
