Today, at Microsoft Ignite, a big announcement was made. The world was told about Windows 365 Link – the first Cloud PC device purpose-built to connect securely to Windows 365 in seconds. This device is now in preview and will become generally available for purchase in April 2025.

Phoenix were one of a handful of partners globally who were invited by Microsoft’s Engineering Team to take part in the private preview for Windows 365 Link. The private preview saw Phoenix deploy several devices across the organisation to help validate and steer the technical direction of the product ahead of it being generally available in 2025.

At Phoenix we’ve been delivering VDI for 15 years and are always an early adopter of all Microsoft technologies, both for ourselves and our customers. When Windows 365 launched over three years ago we knew it was something special and could immediately see how this new category of hybrid personal computing was going to change the world.”

Dan Bowker, Principal Consultant – EUC and Microsoft MVP

In addition to the technical validation, the private preview also allowed Phoenix to identify use cases where the device could deliver value for our customers currently evaluating their EUC strategy with windows in the cloud technologies. We’ve been supporting multiple organisations with the adoption of Windows 365 over the last three years and see huge potential with the introduction of this dedicated device.

Windows 365 Link is a gamechanger, not just for those already using Windows 365, but for customers that are reimagining their current approach to VDI and we see so much potential across the healthcare space, with kiosk-style tap and go, enhanced security for patient data and supporting shared workstation scenarios across colleges and universities, in spaces such as computer labs.”

Since winning Microsoft’s Modern Endpoint Management Partner of the Year in 2023, Phoenix has firmly cemented itself as a global leader across the cloud endpoint solution stack. With this came an invitation to join the Microsoft Management Customer Connection Program, which provides opportunities for Phoenix to work closely with Microsoft Engineering Teams to develop solutions that better address customer needs, such as Windows 365 Link.

The opportunity to participate in the private preview been incredible, not just from an internal perspective, but thinking about how Windows 365 Link will help transform the endpoint strategy for so many of our customers. What makes the device great is that it just works, and the out-of-the-box experience is like nothing we’ve ever seen – our end-users were able to get connected and productive in a matter of seconds, with little to no difference in their familiar Windows experience.”

Robert McMurdo, Cloud Endpoint Solutions Lead

Windows 365 Link will be generally available in 2025 and we’ll be sharing more updates and insights in the coming months.

“We’re so excited to have been part of this pilot period and experience this modern technology firsthand. This head start is set to enable us to support customers right from the beginning, further developing our cloud endpoint skills and representing our place as one of the top UK Microsoft partners.”
